Jazz is a product of diverse cultures colliding and creating something new. Jazz demands honesty, authenticity, and constant self-improvement from its musicians, while also requiring a dynamic group interaction where individuals listen, challenge, and collaborate without ego. This interplay fosters a search for truth and understanding, acknowledging that no one person holds all the answers. Jazz embraces diversity, celebrating individual uniqueness and the richness that different perspectives bring to the music.

Carita Barr, Member: Growing up in a Lutheran state-taxed church, I never was very religious. But 40 years ago, I heard about Unitarian Universalism through friends. I found a home here where this diverse religious community really works to better our world. Respect and honor for the “other” is the main ingredient in our cooperative efforts as a movement.

We were looking for a church where we felt accepted both intellectually and spiritually, a place where all people and religions were regarded equally without condemnation. Our search began at UUCC six years ago and we never had to look any further. We found our place here with a community of like-minded people and it became our second home, our second family.
