Lights in the Darkness

In the season of winter, the nights grow longer, the air grows colder, and the bringing of light to the darkness is celebrated by many faith traditions. The wise men follow a star to find the baby Jesus, we string our trees and homes with lights, the Hanukkah and Kwanzaa candles burn bright, the Yule log’s flames shine through the Winter Solstice, and UU’s continue to gather in community around our chalice flame. In this season of darkness, nature’s wisdom can guide us to peace and rest and allow us each to see the glow of the unique light we bring to this world.

This year, the “pageant” will not be a full play. Instead, we’ll have music, readings, poetry, and a theatrical scene related to the unifying theme of “Lights in the Darkness.” There will be opportunities for participation for everyone (babies, toddlers, kids, and teens).
