Let’s Get Together, South Carolina!

It’s a new year full of new possibilities! Yes, UUs across the state may be faced with a mountain of social justice challenges. Yes, we can feel overwhelmed by the ongoing impact of the pandemic, political divisiveness, and more. But there is something magical happening, and possibilities emerging all around us. The South Carolina UU Justice Alliance formed in 2021 thanks to a startup grant of the Unitarian Universalist Fund for Social Responsibility. The Alliance connects UUs across the state to build relationships, provide mutual support in times of need for local justice work, join in collective action for state level change, and most of all to expand joy in our justice work. We are not only more powerful together—we are more joyful together! Join this service to learn more about the Alliance, to share your hopes so we include your needs in our organizational core vision, and to launch a new year full of inspiration in your own life!

Free to Be Me and You

June is Pride Month. It’s a month to recognize and accept this diverse community that is characterized by a shared culture, social movements, and a focus on individuality. An introductory discussion for the month begins with recognizing how people are different and why that’s okay. Each of us is born in a different time and place and has a different heredity and environment. The product of the choices made by those factors makes us who we are: Free to be you and me.
