At the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbia (UUCC), our Green Sanctuary Committee embodies our commitment to environmental stewardship and justice. Guided by Unitarian Universalist principles, we strive to integrate sustainable practices into our daily lives and congregational activities. Through initiatives in worship, education, and community engagement, we work collectively to address environmental challenges and promote a healthier, more equitable world for all. Join us in nurturing the interdependent web of existence and fostering a sustainable future.

The current Green Sanctuary committee–informally known as the Green Team–kicked off operations on February 18, 2018. Since then, we have:
- Initiated and continued to refine a composting program at UUCC
- Given a Sunday service presenting crucial ideas on climate, pollution, and energy
- Mounted an “Ecological Services” display in the fellowship hall
- Sponsored an evening talk with guest Jane Hiller
- Sought to connect with others in the civic and denominational communities
- Contacted elected representatives to speak for environmental protection
We’ve always got more ideas in the works! Please feel free to join us at our regular meetings. (See church calendar)
