Speaker: Doctor Connie Quirk

Doctor Connie Quirk is the daughter of a US Air Force family who lived, worked and studied on four continents, creating a cosmopolitan outlook and sparking a lifelong love of travel–most recently evidenced on this year’s UUCC pilgrimage to Transylvania. As the third child of seven, she took on appropriate childcare duties from an early age, and went on to choose a career in education. She holds special education degrees from Florida State University and the University of Georgia, and long served as a teacher of emotionally and behaviorally disturbed children, as well as a teacher trainer in the Developmental Therapy instructional model. For many years, Connie’s spiritual practice was purely centered on nature. But she has also been an active UU since 2003, initially at UUC Gwinnett, in the Atlanta area, where she raised two orphaned nephews alongside husband Kevin McKinney. Since moving to South Carolina in 2017, she has been a member of UUCC, serving on the Kitchen Committee, as Social Action Committee co-chair, and now as President of the Board of Trustees. In addition to travel and the outdoors, she enjoys stories of all sorts, friends, reading, and cats.
