Minutes of December 12, 2010 Meeting

Attendance

Members present were: Don Mohr (Co-President), Linda Brennison (Treasurer), Michael Sullivan (Secretary); Members at Large: Elizabeth Harris, Walter Patterson, and Andrea Pixley; and Ex-Officio Members Joe Long (Past-President) and Neal Jones (Minister). Also present was Ann Johnson (Personnel Committee Chair).

Call to Order and Establishment of Quorum

The meeting was called to order by Don at 12:03 PM. He noted a quorum was present.

Hiring of Director of Religious Education

Having received and reviewed Annie E. (Lisa) Eason’s resume, the Board resumed its previous discussion of this position. Ann Johnson presented the Personnel Committee’s recommendation for hiring Lisa as the new DRE. A motion was made by Andrea, seconded by Elizabeth, to approve the hiring of Lisa Eason as the Director of Religious Education effective January 1, 2011 as per the terms in the Letter of Agreement. The vote in favor was unanimous.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:08 PM.

Carita Barr, Member: Growing up in a Lutheran state-taxed church, I never was very religious. But 40 years ago, I heard about Unitarian Universalism through friends. I found a home here where this diverse religious community really works to better our world. Respect and honor for the “other” is the main ingredient in our cooperative efforts as a movement.

We were looking for a church where we felt accepted both intellectually and spiritually, a place where all people and religions were regarded equally without condemnation. Our search began at UUCC six years ago and we never had to look any further. We found our place here with a community of like-minded people and it became our second home, our second family.

Jane and Bob Gillespie, Members

For much of our married life, we were without a church home, but felt our lives would be enriched if we could find a place where we were part of something greater than ourselves. The UUCC became that place. There, we’ve made great friends, enjoyed meaningful fellowship and found a sense of peace. It’s just what we were looking for.
